Microsoft Word Tutorial

The purpose of this tutorial is to cover some of the less familiar aspects of Microsoft Word, such as adjusting autocorrect options, creating tables, changing header and footer information, and applying security features to your documents (and much more). The tutorial should be useful to faculty, staff, and students within CHASS and should serve to expand participants' knowledge of and abilities with the software.

Microsoft PowerPoint Tutorial

The purpose of this tutorial is to cover most of the functionality of Microsoft Powerpoint, such as applying various design templates, including graphics and multimedia into the presentation, using slide animation, and much more. It should be useful to faculty and staff within CHASS and should serve to expand participants' knowledge of and abilities with the software.

Introduction to SPSS

The Introduction to SPSS tutorial is designed primarily as an introduction to the software for lab assistants and graduate students not already familiar with SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), but may be useful to anyone who works with statistical analysis.

Introduction to PSPP

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide information on how to use the basic functions of PSPP, an open-source statistical analysis software program.

Contribute Introduction

The purpose of this tutorial is to quickly help users in developing and maintaining websites. The tutorial introduces users to Macromedia Contribute, a very easy-to-use, intuitive website development package. This is an introductory class in which participants do not need to be familiar with HTML/Website design in any way. If participants have past experience with Dreamweaver, Frontpage, or any other HTML design tool, it will help them in appreciating the simplicity of Contribute.

Contribute Advanced

This tutorial will build on the Contribute Introduction tutorial and cover slightly more advanced topics such as making use of anchors, complying with ADA standards and regulations, and editing HTML code directly. The ADA standards component of the class is essenial if you are are planning to update/manage a website.

CHASS Developed Software

CHASS IT maintains several applications available for use on CHASS websites. This page gives an overview of those applications, with links to FAQs for each application. Please send a message to chass_webdev@ncsu.edu with any questions.

  • News System - Allows members of the NCSU community to submit news articles that can then be displayed on CHASS websites
  • Calendar System - Allows members of the NCSU community to submit upcoming events that can then be displayed on CHASS websites
  • Faculty and Staff Application - Faculty and staff members can update various personal information and control how it is displayed on their websites.
  • Edit Page Info - Site admins can upload and change banner images, and also add META information each web page (required for the site to be 100% accessible
  • Content Management System (CMS) - Site admins can update their websites from inside the browser.
  • New Content Management System (CMS) - Newer version of the CMS for website that have the same template as the CHASS Homepage.
