Adding Stata SE 12 using Self Service

Version 12 of STATA SE can now be installed on some CHASS desktops and laptops via a self-service process.  The directions below will walk you through the steps required for the software to be installed.

  1. Left click Start Menu and in Search Programs and Files at the bottom type “Software Center” (See Figure 1 below).

  2. Once you left click on “Software Center,” a window will open with available self-service software packages (See Figure 2 below).

  3. Left click the checkbox to the left of Stata SE 12 and then left click the Install button in the lower right corner (See Figure 3 below).

  4. Click the Installation Status and you will see that your Stata SE 12 is now Installing (See Figure 4).

The installation may take some time to complete (and will be slower from off-campus locations).  The status will update to Installed on the Installation Status tab (Figure 4 above) once it has finished.  Additionally, you can check the Installed Software tab (Figure 5 below) to see a list of all installed software.

Once the installation has completed (which you can verify by checking the Installation Status tab – see Figure 4), you may need to restart your computer in order to use the software.  You will be able to launch STATA 12 by left clicking Start Menu and in Search Programs and Files at the bottom type “STATA” (See Figure 1). Be sure to select the entry for STATA SE 12 to launch the correct version.
