Our unit has put together several online tutorials below to assist clients in using commonly used software within the college.

Commercial Software

Microsoft Word Tutorial

The purpose of this tutorial is to cover some of the less familiar aspects of Microsoft Word, such as adjusting autocorrect options, creating tables, changing header and footer information, and applying security features to your documents (and much more). The tutorial should be useful to faculty, staff, and students within CHASS and should serve to expand participants' knowledge of and abilities with the software.

Microsoft PowerPoint Tutorial

The purpose of this tutorial is to cover most of the functionality of Microsoft Powerpoint, such as applying various design templates, including graphics and multimedia into the presentation, using slide animation, and much more. It should be useful to faculty and staff within CHASS and should serve to expand participants' knowledge of and abilities with the software.

Microsoft Publisher Tutorial

This tutorial is to help faculty and students in creating Assorted Design Templates to create printed ads for external use.

Camstudio Tutorial

This tutorial is intended to assist with navigating Camstudio, and direct users to change appropriate settings to allow optimal recording performance.

Introduction to SPSS

The Introduction to SPSS tutorial is designed primarily as an introduction to the software for lab assistants and graduate students not already familiar with SPSS (Statistical Package for the Social Sciences), but may be useful to anyone who works with statistical analysis.

Introduction to PSPP

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide information on how to use the basic functions of PSPP, an open-source statistical analysis software program.

R-Project Tutorial

he purpose of this tutorial is to familiarize users with common statistical functions of R. Because everything is done using functions and code, it is important to understand how the framework of R can be a powerful tool when developing, plots, forecasts, missing values and more.

Creating Your Web Presence

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide you with an overview of the recommended options available at NCSU for creating and maintaining a web presence for course information and material, research information, publications, and other pertinent information.

Bronto Tutorial

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide information on how to use Bronto to send newsletters. The tutorial is divided into two sections.  The first section shows how to create and send the newsletter.  The second section provides additional information about editing content and images that are used in the newsletters.

CHASS IT Developed Systems

CHASS IT maintains several applications available for use on college websites. This page gives an overview of those applications, with links to FAQs for each application. Please send a message to chass_webdev@ncsu.edu with any questions.

Content Management System (CMS)

Site admins can update their websites from inside the browser.

Voiceboard Under Moodle

The purpose of this tutorial is to provide a brief overview of how the Voiceboard type functionality in Moodle works.  This functionality replaces our previous Wimba service.
